Merging innovation with art: LUMiNE
illuminating the future for sustainability

THE PROBLEM
Plexiglass became essential during COVID-19. These acrylic barriers helped us battle the global pandemic and was used across schools, businesses, and many public spaces. In recent years, thanks to the gradual improvement of COVID, plexiglass has been slowly removed from public settings. This left us with a lot of waste that will eventually fill our landfills.
Plexiglass, also known as PMMA or acrylic is made up of polycarbonate, making it extremely difficult to recycle.
Canadian high schools alone have produced an estimated 7 million sheets of plexiglass waste!
OUR SOLUTION
Our team at LUMiNE wanted to create a cool and unique solution to repurposing plexiglass waste. By laser cutting the plexiglass, we are able to create clean and precise designs. Once lit up, these designs glow!
Each LUMiNE night light you purchase is an effort to reduce waste and move towards a more sustainable future!
